How the Bribe Deal Happened
The case started when the CGST officer allegedly demanded Rs 25 lakh. He wanted the money to close an investigation related to unpaid GST and fake billing, and then both sides agreed on Rs 20 lakh. The officer then told the complainant to give the money to Akash Kaloliya, who acted as a middleman.
ACB Operation and Arrest
The operation was carried out under the senior officials of the ACB. The team, led by Inspector AA Khokhar, stopped the deal at the right time. They recovered the full Rs 20 lakh in cash from the spot. Authorities arrested both the government officer and the consultant. They have been charged under the relevant laws.
