Government Extends Countervailing Duty on Imports of Aluminium Wire and Rod until March 2027

The Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) under the Government of India has extended the Countervailing Duty (CVD) on imports of Aluminium Wire and Rod in coil form (9 mm to 13 mm diameter) originating in or exported from Malaysia till March 23, 2027.

The Central Government has officially announced this move vide a Notification No. 3/2026-Customs (CVD), dated June 10, 2026, in exercise of the powers granted under sub-sections (1) and (6) of section 9 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975), read with rules 20 and 24 of the Customs Tariff (Identification, Assessment and Collection of Countervailing Duty on Subsidised Articles and for Determination of Injury) Rules, 1995.

To enforce this action, the government has further amended Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) Notification No. 4/2021-Customs (CVD), dated September 24, 2021, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide No. G.S.R. 662(E), dated September 24, 2021.

In the said notification, after paragraph 2, “3. Notwithstanding anything contained in paragraph 2, the countervailing duty imposed under this notification shall remain in force up to and inclusive of the 23rd March, 2027, unless revoked, superseded or amended earlier” has been inserted.
